In a proactive move to align national energy policies with local distribution efforts, the Department of Energy (DOE) recently visited Subic EnerZone (SEZ) as part of their comprehensive Monitoring Activities in Luzon last March 24, 2026.

This visit served as a vital touchpoint for both organizations, fostering a collaborative environment aimed at improving service delivery and regulatory compliance for the Subic Bay Freeport Zone community.

The engagement focused on three key areas where the DOE could offer enhanced assistance to Subic EnerZone: refining customer communication strategies, clarifying complex rate structures, and streamlining the Lifeline Subsidy implementation for marginalized customers of SEZ.

To ensure long-term operational efficiency, the activity also established a clear hierarchy of contact persons within the DOE for future technical and regulatory inquiries.

For its part, Subic EnerZone’s Utility Economics, Marketing and Communications, and AboitizPower Regulation Authority provided a comprehensive overview of its service areas and introduced the broader network of EnerZones, ensuring the DOE has a direct line to the right personnel during typhoons, power interruptions, and other emergency scenarios.

Looking toward the future, the session concluded with Subic EnerZone presenting its strategic roadmap and key initiatives, reinforcing a shared commitment to maintaining a stable and resilient energy landscape for the Subic Bay Freeport Zone and beyond.
