Prioritizing Workplace Safety and Crisis Readiness: EnerZones partner with SBMA LED, Fortress Security Agency for Active Shooter, Emergency Response Training

Demonstrating a shared commitment to group-wide safety and emergency preparedness, EnerZones (EZ) across Subic, Lima, Malvar, Mactan, and Balamban completed a comprehensive emergency response training and active shooter drill on October 7.

The initiative was organized by Subic EnerZone’s (SEZ) Safety, Health, Environment, and Security (SHES) Department in collaboration with the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority Law Enforcement Department (SBMA LED) and Fortress Security Agency, Inc..
The sessions were hosted on-site at the SEZ Administration Building, while EZ Kaibigans from Malvar EnerZone, Mactan EnerZone, Balamban EnerZone, and Lima EnerZone engaged real time through a virtual conference.

Lt. Derek Grueso opened the morning discussion with disaster management, covering critical and practical decision-making, protocols, and evacuation strategies for fires, earthquakes, and tsunamis.
For bomb and improvised explosive device (IED) familiarization, Lt. Edmundo Avecilla educated participants on recognizing visual and auditory threat indicators, and executing safe procedures while awaiting specialized bomb squads.
Afterwards, Lt. Ador Fajardo shared local crime statistics and insights from Olongapo City and the Subic Bay Freeport Zone and emphasized on proactive measures to mitigate target vulnerability.
In the afternoon, Sgt. Julius Paclibar detailed active shooter pre-incident indicators and behavioral patterns, and mitigation strategies before and during law enforcement intervention.
As for search techniques, Sgt. Nixon Calma explained the basic sweep protocols, and instructed how to safely inspect facility grounds for suspected threats prior to responder arrival.
Following the lectures, SEZ participants transitioned to the active shooter simulation exercise, where they applied their training by navigating immediate threat scenarios and identifying concealment points.

At the conclusion of the event, guest presenters from SBMA LED commended the entire EnerZone group for their exceptional coordination, and high level of engagement and readiness in threat management and crisis handling.
This training was also previously conducted in 2023, signifying a sustained commitment to safety and crisis readiness across all EnerZones.
